Hedaya Kelani

Libyan American artist Hedaya Kelani makes use of emotion and spirituality to explore the world around her through several artistic practices such as painting, ceramics, altered book, and mixed media.

Although Kelani has always been an art-lover, she first encountered the wide lens of the art world during her junior year of high school, where she participated in the International Baccalaureate art program and discovered herself through pottery, altered book, and up-cycled/recycled fashions. Now attending the University of Houston, Kelani continues to learn and dedicate time to creating art.

Kelani’s first public art showing took place in fall 2016 at the 3rd annual Islamic Arts Festival. From there, Kelani has had her work featured in a calendar and showcased her work with the Houston Millennials, the Houston Bicycle Museum, and at Houston City Hall. Kelani continues to turn her passion into a form of expression through her work.
